Zayed University launches first ever film archive in Gulf

ABU DHABI — The UAE National Film Library and Archive, which is set to document the UAE’s film history, present and future, launched at Zayed University on Tuesday, April 30.

The archive was launched under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, accompanied by His Excellency Doctor Sulaiman Al Jassim, vice president of ZU.

The opening took place towards the closure of the fourth Zayed University Middle East Film Festival in the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak theatre on campus alongside the organizers of the event, students, visitors and press.

H.E. Sheikh Nahyan expressed his happiness and pride with the development of such an important project, the UAENFLA, being the first of its kind in the Gulf region.

One of the key organizers of this project, Dr. Alia Yunis, seemed to be pleased and satisfied with the outcome. Other volunteers and event organizers shared a mutual feeling as the event turned out to be successful and much appreciated.
