ABU DHABI – I love healthy food, and that includes hamburgers – which, of course, are not necessarily that healthy for you. Still, I try to eat the healthiest burger. In Abu Dhabi there are many hamburger restaurants, and I have tried almost all of them.
And then there is SALT hamburgers, which actually is a mobile trailer that comes from Dubai down to Abu Dhabi. You have to find out about when it will be here on Instagram. SALT’s owners tell us on that social media site when their trailer will be making a visit to the capital city. Recently, SALT was at Al Bateen Public Beach, and I had to try its food.
I ordered cheeseburger sliders and cheetohs burger sliders. A slider means a mini-burger, and the meal comes with three mini-burgers in one box. You have the choice of chicken or beef, and also they offer camel meat. Of course, it’s rare to find restaurants that offer camel meet.
I think what makes SALT’s hamburgers outstanding is they always use fresh meat. The bread they use is also fresh, and the owners bake it every day. I also like their burgers because they are juicy and soft, and the type of sauce they put on them is well balanced – and my favorite, I have to say.
The menu is pretty simple and clear, which is good in a burger place. You can order a variety of different types of delicious juicy burgers. They do not have kid’s menu, so children should go for the mini-burgers.
As I said, SALT is a trailer, and the idea is creative and simple. You can enjoy your food while sitting on the beach.
I ordered 10 meals, one order of French fries and seven Coca-Cola, and the total was Dh600 – a bit much, I thought at the time. I have to say their burgers were amazing, but we waited two hours in line. Therefore, while I thought SALT’s burgers tasted great, the long wait works against the beauty and simplicity of the place.
The truck moves from one place to another and from one city to another.
