ABU DHABI – Anas Bukhash, managing partner of Ahdaaf Sports Club, gave a speech on April 21 at Zayed University-Abu Dhabi about his journey in becoming a successful businessman.

Mr. Bukhash’s professional trek began with him following what he called the Three P’s Rule: Passion, Planning and Perseverance. While he is a businessman, he said that there’s one thing he is most passionate about – football. He grew up playing the sport and was later a football commentator on television.

“It wasn’t a profession back when I was younger. One goes to play football, drink Caprisun and eat a cheese sandwich, and that was it,” said Mr. Bukhash, an active social media participant who has more than 23,000 followers on Twitter.

After high school, he attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts (in the United States), to study engineering, a major that he said he had little interest in.

By his senior year, he visited an indoor football field, with synthetic grass and air conditioning. It was new to him, and the only idea he wanted to bring back home.

Mr. Bukhash, who lives in Dubai, has worked for an oil company, in real estate and in investment. He also has done volunteer work in the humanitarian field. One stop along the way came with Dubai SME, a company that supports the development of entrepreneurs.

The Dubai businessman believes in perseverance. He told students that on one business idea he faced several rejections. In fact, this particular project was declined three times. He refused to give up on his idea, and the fourth try proved to be a success.

His sports operation includes the management of football pitches. He said that his hard work covering six years has paid off. In 2009, he opened his first football field and now owns 17 fields in United Arab Emirates.

The UAE businessman also is the managing partner of Bukhas Brothers, a boutique agency. In addition to being a businessman, Mr. Bukhash is an avid photographer.
