ABU DHABI — Zayed University students participated in the 2016 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and shared their passion for storytelling in the booth #ZUREADS.

The Abu Dhabi International Book Festival began on April 27 and lasted until May 3 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

ZU students were volunteer participants who represented the ZU Reads Program. Among the people ZU volunteers met were students from Al Marwa Primary School. The students were invited to a session of listening to stories told by ZU Students.

Al Marwa Primary School students enjoyed the stories told and liked the giveaways, which ZU students handed. The students were also happy to paint on the walls of the booth. Other visitors left their signatures and expressions on the booth walls as a way to express themselves.

ZU students introduced the university’s reading program to other visitors and explained their community service work. There were also information sessions, which ZU students explained to adolescents about the university’s different colleges and majors.

Another important aspect of #ZUREADS is a box Zayed University offers for book donations. ZU student volunteers asked visitors to donate books they no longer need, to have them delivered to less fortunate countries and hospital libraries.

One of the most attractive ZU projects in this year’s book fair was a booth devoted to ZU Student Council’s spring break trip to refugee camps in Jordan, where they went to help refugees by providing healthcare and entertainment activities for children.
