ABU DHABI — “Hotel Transylvania” was my favorite animation film in 2012, so of course I was thrilled to hear about the sequel of “Hotel Transylvania 2.” This movie was first aired in the United Arab Emirates, on the first day of the Eid Al Adha holiday, which was on 24 September 2015.
It started showing at the perfect time, where families are looking for something for their kids to do. However, this movie isn’t just great for families; it’s a great movie for animation, fantasy and comedy fans.
I saw it at Al Raha Mall in Abu Dhabi, on the second day of Al Eid. Moreover, what motivated me more to see this movie, is the marketing attempts I saw in The Dubai Mall.
The mall had a huge costume of the character Frankenstein and they gave away cute masks of all the different characters in the movie.
The movie is all about the new family member, Dennis, who is the grandson of Dracula. This half human, half vampire baby, drove Drac to be crazier than usual.
Drac is now worried about his new grandson not showing signs of being a vampire, so he decides to drive away his daughter and take his grandson on a crazy monster ride with Wayne, Frankenstein and Griffin to bring out the monster within.
Moreover, this sequence had many meaningful ideas where it discussed some social topics like the concept of accepting others as they are and how to adapt in the world. They also tried to appeal to teens, by using hip tracks and dance moves that are popular at the moment.
“Hotel Transylvania 2” is a record-breaking movie at the box office. It topped the previous movie, bringing in $47.5 million since its release.
The film is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, an animator. There are several famous stars in the movie, including Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez and Kevin James. Robert Smigel is the screenwriter.
The movie is playing at Al Mariah Cinema, Cine Royal at Dalma Mall and Novo Cinemas at the World Trade Centre Mall.
