ABU DHABI — College of Art and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi held an exhibition to showcase their creativity from April 25 to May 7 at Saadiyat Island.
This year, students showed that, as we grow, art-making progresses from undefined scribbles, to images, shapes, words and experiences that mold our perception of the world.
The artwork delved into originality and innovation from students of all four CACE majors — animation design, graphic design, interior design and visual art.
The end of their final research projects and creative works was celebrated in Manarat Al Saadiyat, at what students have said to be a “distinctive” venue. The 2017 senior students presented an array of beautiful artwork that not only brought other students together, but also artists and leaders of different cultures.
Mazoon Al Ghafri, a 21-year-old graphic design student, shared her thoughts, saying it was well-organized and, in one word, “breathtaking.” She added that it was one of the best senior exhibitions she’s been to thus far. Professors gave students a chance to express themselves freely and creatively, “which gave them a sense of individuality.”
This freedom allowed them to show more of themselves in their art, creatively and less traditionally. Most importantly, each student learned to express themselves in healthy, positive ways using a variety of creative means, and in the process, discovered inner strengths and a sense of connection with others.
CACE holds the senior exhibtion each year at Saadiyat Island, giving ZU-AD students to show their work to the world.
