ABU DHABI — Members of the Zayed University Chapter of the Middle East Public Relations Association held the first annual Student PR Day on Monday, March 25, in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikha Yahya Mohamed Al Maskari, a panelist in the first session of the day, told students to work hard.
“Never say I don’t know how to do something,” said Ms. Al Maskari, who also is a graduate student at ZU. “Say I will find out how to do it. Google it.”
Ms. Al Maskari joined Clare Woodcraft-Scott, the CEO at the Emirates Foundation, and David Bulla, an associate professor in the College of Communication and Media Sciences, to discuss public relations in the United Arab Emirates. Miss Al Maskari also told students to differentiate themselves from their competitors in the hunt for quality jobs in public relations.
After the panel discussion, there were breakout workshop sessions. One of these included a lecture on government communication from Rasha Kashkoush, the regional director of Hill & Knowlton. She talked about how governments get their messages out to the public. Later, Noura Sarraj explained how a specific public relations campaign worked.
The panel was held in F1-0-027 with about 75 attendees. The breakout sessions were held in the CCMS Dean’s Conference Room.
