DUBAI – Student Council recently announced the members of the Student Council for the new academic year 2015-2016. We had the chance to meet the new president, Asma AlBahri and talk about some of their plans and goals for this year.
This interview took place at the Club Fair at Zayed University on Sept. 20, 2015. Here’s what she had to say.

Moza AlHamrani: Please introduce yourself.
Asma AlBahri: My name is Asma Mohammed AlBahri, president of the Student Council for the academic year 2015-2016. I study Finance at the College of Business. This is going to be my first year in the council, and hopefully a good one.
MH: What does the Student Council do?
AB: Our first priority is deliver students’ voices to the administration. We also aim to provide an enjoyable, productive vibe for the students in order to discover and develop their skills through the activities we organise on campus. We organise events like the National Day, and the Zayed University Entrepreneurship Carnival in which we utilise student skills to celebrate such events.
MH: What can we expect from the Student Council this year?
AB: This year we will apply a new strategy for when faculty is off for training and there are no classes. We will organise a daily program with a new subject each day where the students will take part in several activities. National Day activities will also be different this year, as the activities will extend for a week instead of a day. We will try to make this year enjoyable for the students.
MH: What do you provide for students at the Club Fair?
AB: The announcement for the new members came in a little late this year, so it was especially hard to provide activities for the Club Fair. We will try to provide more in the upcoming days. As for now, we dedicated this day to getting to meet the students, and giving them the opportunity to meet us as well.
MH: Do you hold any competitions or prizes for students?
AB: This is definitely within our current plans, but we will let you know when we confirm them.
MH: How can students contact the Student Council?
