DUBAI – On Oct. 27, Zayed University’s Student Counseling Center, in cooperation with the student life department, organized a Breast Cancer event and bazaar in the Atrium with the slogan “Think Pink Campaign” to raise and promote health awareness among the students and faculty at Zayed University.

During the main event there were many smaller events contributing to increase the knowledge of students about the factors that lead to breast cancer and how it can be detected and prevented. There was a medical screening by the Dubai Health Authority where they taught students how to check themselves for breast cancer, blood sugar levels and blood pressure tests. A nutritionist also offered students advice on food that might cause and help fight cancer.

“If a patient can stay positive, they have a better chance to fight the illness” said Joan Abdallah from Student Counseling Center as they had a booth that presented the psychological effects of dealing with cancer and how being positive is so important.

Zayed University library and learning commons also joined the event displaying books about cancer and very touching posters for students to attach messages on for breast cancer patients.

There was also a pink photo booth where students would get dressed up in pink and take photos and the money that was made in that booth went to charity.
