DUBAI – The Middle East Public Relations Association student chapter at Zayed University invited representatives from Expo 2020 and Dubai College of Tourism to ZU on April 21. The purpose of this event was to provide internships and job opportunities for ZU students and to educate them on tomorrow’s changing job market.

The event featured two main workshops, one offered by representatives from Expo 2020 and the other delivered by representatives from Dubai College of Tourism.

The first workshop was delivered by Fatima Alloghani, head of Expo Academy & Emiratization at Expo 2020 Dubai, and Khadem Al Manssori and Mariyam AlMemari, recent university graduates who currently work for Expo 2020. They gave an informative session to students on the different job opportunities and internship opportunities offered by Expo 2020 in addition to guiding them on how to apply for them. They also briefly discussed the history of Expo 2020, revealed the number of visitors coming to Dubai as a result of Expo 2020 and the social impact that Expo 2020 will be having on Dubai and the UAE as a whole.

This was then followed by another workshop given by the two representatives from Dubai College of Tourism, Project Manager Marlise Ishak and Senior Specialist Dr. Samy Taha. Taha educated students on the current state of tourism industry in Dubai, on how it is changing and on the ways in which students can work on improving it as young Emiratis. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session between Taha and the students, in which they expressed different opinions, viewpoints and ideas.

The event attracted a number of students from different colleges at ZU who were all eager to learn more about the growing tourism industry in their country in addition to learning more about Expo 2020, the ways it will impact the UAE, and how they can make use of this incredible opportunity as fresh graduates.

This event was organized by the MEPRA student chapter at ZU under the supervision of Dr. Noela Michael.
